76th Independence Day Celebration in Sainik School Balachadi, Jamnagar Sainik School Balachadi celebrated 76 th Independence Day in its School campus on 15 Aug 2022. Brig Saurav Vats, Cdr, 31 Inf Bde, an alumnus of Sainik School Tilaiya was the Chief Guest on this occasion. He laid wreath on the Shourya Stambh, the war memorial of martyrs and hoisted Tricolor followed by the National Anthem. Prior to arrival of the Chief Guest the first wreath was laid by Col Shreyash Mehta, Principal, Sainik School Balachadi.

The event in the line of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ started with the welcome of Chief Guest in School Auditorium. Cadet Krisha and Cadet Raman delivered speeches in Hindi and English respectively on the importance of Independence Day. Students of Balniketan, Primary School too shared their views on this day. Melodious Patriotic songs sung by Cadets and staff mesmerized the audience. On this occasion the Chief Guest gave away the prizes, trophies and certificates to the Cadets who excelled in various competitions- Inter House Hindi Poem Recitation Competition, Inter House English Essay Writing Competition and Open Painting Competition conducted on the occasion of celebrations of 75 years of India’s Independence.

The Chief Guest in his address wished everyone a very Happy 76 th Independence Day and appreciated the efforts put in by the Cadets and staff for the grand show and also congratulated all those who won the prizes. He shared his experiences as a student of Sainik School Tilaiya. In his address the Chief Guest emphasized on the sense of patriotism and belongingness towards the nation and advised the Cadets to be sincere, truthful, disciplined and work hard to join Armed Forces. He also said to make the best use of facilities and infrastructure available in the School for their dreams to come true. Further he added that Armed Forces give us a feeling of self-pride, sense of compassion and kindness which we can inculcate in others. 

On this occasion, Col Shreyash Mehta, Principal, Sainik School Balachadi presented the school memento to Chief Guest as a token of remembrance. The Chief Guest also visited the Leaders Gallery of the School. The Programme culminated with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Lt Col Harjot Kaur, Vice Principal of the school. 

In the end Col Shreyash Mehta interacted with the staff and cadets of Sainik School Balachadi and complimented all stakeholders for their tireless efforts in making the celebration a gala event. He also emphasized the importance of Independence Day and motivated the Cadets while narrating his own experiences to not only live their dreams but also to make it happen.
