ALUMNI REUNION IN SAINIK SCHOOL BALACHADI, JAMNAGAR

87 members of Old Boys of Sainik School Balachadi Association of 1962-1978 batches along with their spouses visited Sainik School Balachadi on 20 Nov 2022. On their arrival, the Guests laid wreath on the Shourya Stambh - the War Memorial of Martyrs.

In the honour of OBSSA members a Special Assembly was conducted in which two ex-teachers from England who taught during the 1960s in Sainik School Balachadi were honored. On this Reunion, OBSSA members presented a new bike and 25 Computers to the School.





The program kick started in the School Auditorium with a welcome address delivered by Col Shreyash Mehta, Principal, Sainik School Balachadi. All the OBSSA members were introduced by Col Subir Ahluwalia, an alumnus of Sainik School Balachadi. Various OBSSA members addressed the gathering and motivated the Cadets with their speeches. Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Noble Thamburaj, PVSM, SM (Retd), in his address gave two lessons to Cadets – First, whenever you feel scared just shout and Second, Hard Work achieves greater wonder than talent.

Air Marshal SC Mukul, PVSM, AVSM, VM, VSM (Retd), explained how to be a Team Member and said that School provides basic foundation like Manners, Team Spirit and Leadership Qualities to have a focused attention towards a chosen career. 

While sharing his memories in Sainik School Jamnagar and later on in Balachadi     Lt Gen Vijai Sharma, PVSM, AVSM (Retd), said the time spent in School moulded his life in every field of life. While motivating the Cadets to join NDA he also said the quality of life and opportunity what Armed Forces give is incomparable. He also said the more you sweat in student’s life, less you suffer in adult age. 

In his speech, Lt Gen Asit Mistry, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd) said that channelized preparation is required by Cadets to prepare for NDA written examination. Apart from classroom, lots of learning takes place outside it, a Cadet needs to keep his mind always open. 

Maj Arjun Nanavati (Retd) shared his experiences of 1971 War. He also presented a Coffee Table Book to School as a token of remembrance.                                     Capt (IN) Dinesh K Lamba (Retd) in his speech said that people may not be good in everything but they still continue to work hard to excel. He shared his experiences and memories during his stay in Balachadi at the time of earthquake.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by School Senior Master Mr RK Suvagia.

OBSSA members along with their spouses visited Leader’s Gallery as well.

In evening a cultural program was organized in auditorium in which Bharat Natyam was performed by girl Cadet Jiya Doshi of class VI followed by mesmerizing music on flute by Mr RS Mishra, Art Master, Songs by Cadets and Staff. 

The day long reunion came to end with the interaction of Cadets with OBSSA members who shared their memories, experiences and guidance with the Cadets over High Tea in the School Indoor Sports Complex.
